Found this baby Berkeley's Polypore,
Bondarzewia berkeleyi, hugging an oak stump. It is about 3.5"
wide. I will take pictures as it develops unless the grass mowers destroy
Yellow Blusher, Amanita
flavorubescens? Cap 3" diameter. Stem about 2". Stem
bruised reddish brown.
Spore print white. A larger spore
measured 12.5x7.68 microns. This is a bit larger than the 8-10 x 5.5-7
given in the guide. Did I discover a new specie? The shape reminds me of a
corn kernel. The guides call it "elliptical".
