Back Yard Mushrooms

Has anyone used cooking as a way to
identify mushrooms? I like to eat Bicolor Bolete and the look alikes.
Here is what the Bicolor and something else look like after boiling in water for
about 15 minutes. Bicolor on the left.
There were several interesting mushrooms
growing among moss under an oak. The first was a Beefstake Polypore, about
4" wide.

The second was this dark caped bolete.
