Chaga Growth Study
On 7/28/06 Jerry found this small Chaga,
growing on a Yellow Birch in Grafton. We decided to leave it alone and
check its growth periodically.
On 7/29/06 it measured 4" high and about 2.5" wide. It is growing, a foot
or so off the ground, on one of two Yellow Birch growing together. Both
trees appear to be healthy and are about 10" in diameter.
On 11/9/06 There was no noticeable growth,
in fact it looked like it lost some mass due to weathering.
Here is a picture from a different angle to
show what is in the back.
There is another part growing in the bottom left.
